A Nevada cannabis advocate group has launched a petition that would put a vote for legalized cannabis on the Nevada State ballot in 2016. The move comes after the success of the Colorado model and is led by state Sen. Tick Segerblom and marijuana advocate Joe Brezny. The group is working with the Marijuana Policy Project on the petition.
If the group gathers 101,667 signatures by Nov. 11. If they succeed, legislators in 2015 could approve or reject the petition. If they reject it, which is expected, then the measure would become a ballot question for voters to decide in 2016.
Considering the success of Colorado’s retail cannabis system, Nevada will most likely not be the only state in the coming years to legalize retail cannabis. CCG clients are ready for interstate cannabis commerce, is your cannabis business?
